Frequently Asked Questions

Answers You’re Looking For

Which payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards, applepay, as well as cash. All payment is required upon drop off of the instruements. The reason we do this is to assure that we do not have a ton of guitars in the shop waiting to be picked up for extended periods of time.

Do you work on any other stringed instruments?

Yes we do! Here at guitar doctor we can take on electric guitars, acoustic guitars, 7 string guitars, 12 string guitars, multi scale guitars, mandolins, ukuleles & banjos. If you are unsure if we can service your instrument just give us a call and ask, we look forward to hearing from you! 860-488-4629

How safe are my instruments with you guys?

You will always get your instrument back to you in better shape then we received it, that we can promise. As a musician myself with a love for the hobby & business i fully understand leaving your instrument with me can be nerve wracking. I am happy to inform you however you are in great hands. I am a graduate of Southeast Guitar Repair Academy under master luthier Barret Culpepper with hundreds of hours of schooling, great refernces, and experience. I continue to strive to further my education every single day in order to better serve our customers.

How often should we get your instrument set up & our strings changed?

We recommend getting a setup every 6 months if possible to assure that your instrument is working its best. Your instrument is taking on and letting out moisture on a daily basis which over time can lead to neck bow, fret sprout, and buzzing. Its ideal to store your instrument as consistently as possible at 65-75 degrees and 45-55% humidity to prevent this, but between indoor and outdoor gigs and everything else we completely get your instrument needing a checkup every once in awhile. We recommend strings get changed once a month for the average player ( 30 mins a day ) to keep your instrument sounding and feeling its best.

Do you do pickup and dropoffs?

Yes we do! We understand things get busy and want to offer our services to everybody. If you are within a 25 mile radius of New Fairfeild Connecticut we will gladly come pick up your instrument for you at a time that works best during our designated pickup and drop off days/times. We do pickup and drop offs during business hours monday - thurdays only for an additional fee of 35$ one way or 55$ round trip. Call to book your pickup and dropoff today.

The  dreaded saying " the other guy can do it cheaper" ...

I am sure there are others out there that can do it cheaper and that is great, but I strongly believe you get what you pay for in this industry though so why cut corners with your baby? I also think our eyes and hands are the best to work on instruments, not machines or powertools. While that takes some extra care and time we take pride in our high quality of work that can be put up against any high end PLEK machine.
